    Local roundup: St. Bernard will add 15 to Athletic Hall of Fame

    Montville — St. Bernard School will induct 15 alumni into its Athletic Hall of Fame during a ceremony and dinner on Saturday, Oct. 28.

    The Class of 2023 inductees include John Ranelli (Class of 1964: football, baseball); Joe Turner (1967: football, baseball); Jack Turner (1967: football, baseball); Pat Hallisey (1975: track, football); Mike Lindsay (1976: football, baseball); Dr. Leah Russack Baker (1986: track); Adrian Clark (1986: football, baseball, indoor track); Sal Tinnerello (1988: baseball); Kate Boynewicz Letellier (1988: track); Dr. Peter Pelligrino (1996: wrestling, football, baseball); Mena Buscetto Tantillo (2013: softball); Rich Kosta (track coach); Warren Swanson (soccer coach, posthumous); Nancy and Paul Bychowsky (boosters).

    The ceremony will take place at 6 p.m. in the in the Rev. Russell L. Boisvert Auditorium, followed by a catered dinner in the gymnasium. Tickets are $60 fo adults, $30 for children 12-and-under, and include a buffet meal with a cash bar. Tickets can be purchased online at https://www.saintbernardschool.org/hof.

    Zone 6 Legion

    • Norwich remained unbeaten in zone play with a 6-3 win over Tri-Town. Randy Jimenez and Joel Tiburcio combined to pitch a one-hitter. Jimenez pitched the first four innings for the win, allowing one hit, and Tiburcio went the final three. Chris Southworth had a double for Norwich (3-0) and Jimenez and Tiburcio each had a triple.

    • Waterford beat Danielson 2-0. Justin Saad got thre win, allowing five hits with nine strikeouts over 6.2 inning and Martin Light got the final out. Sean Salvador had three hits for Waterford (3-1).

    NECBL

    • The Mystic Schooners won their sixth straight game, beating the Martha’s Vineyard Sharks 4-1 in the New England Collegiate Baseball League. Anthony DePino (Rhode Island) homered for the Schooners (8-4). Rian Schwede (Endicott) got the win, allowing one hit and one run over four innings.

    J.T. Navyak (Cal State Fullerton) drove in the winning run with an RBI single in the 11th inning as the Mystic Schooners beat the North Shore Navigators 8-7 on Monday night.

    The Schooners had surrended a 6-1 lead and trailed 7-6 in the ninth when Julian Stevens (Missouri) delivered an RBI single to send the game into extra innings. Jay Allmer (Seton Hall) pitched three scoreless innings without allowing a hit in relief to ear the victory. Navyak also drove in run with a single in the seventh.

    FCBL

    • The Norwich Sea Unicorns scored five runs in the bottom of the fifth inning and went on to beat the Westfield Starfires 6-1 in the Futures Collegiate Baseball League.

    Matthew Bucciero (Fairfield) had an RBI triple, Dean Ferrera (Fairfield) and Ray Leonzi (Eastern Connecticut) had RBI singles and Zachary Lyons (Bryant) had a sacrifice fly in the fifth. Andrew Bianco (New Haven) and Ferrera had two hits each for Norwich (13-10).

    District 10 softball (10-12)

    • Waterford defeated Lyme/Old Lyme/New London 9-5 on Monday. Aubrie Willis threw a complete game for the win and struck out seven. Violet Melton led the Waterford offense with a triple and three runs scored. Victoria Glaras reached base three times and scored twice for Lyme/Old Lyme/New London.

    • Peyton Swanson pitched a two-hitter with 16 sttrikeouts as East Lyme-Salem beat Stonington 4-1 on Monday. Mikeala Richter, Hailey Fletcher, and Lorelei Gronholm had hit for East Lyme-Salem. Stonington's Ainslie Zagol and Molly Perkins each had a hit and Zagol pitched a three-hitter with seven strikeouts.

    District 10 senior baseball

    • Ledyard beat Groton 12-8 on Monday. Ayden Lyons pitched 4 innings for Ledyard giving up two earned runs. Lyons had two hits and three RBIs. Julius Carver had three hits, including a suicide squeeze bunt, for Groton.
