    Local roundup: East Lyme blanks Woodstock in volleyball

    East Lyme — East Lyme blanked Woodstock Academy in an Eastern Connecticut Conference Division I volleyball match on Thursday night, winning 25-17, 25-22, 25-23.

    It avenged a 3-1 loss to Woodstock on Sept.22 and stretched the Vikings’ winning streak to eight straight.

    Addison Soleau had 10 kills and six blocks, Skylar Bell had 18 digs and six aces, Bella Diep had 28 assists and 10 digs, Taylor Kachinsky had 13 digs and five kills and Abby Parulis had 11 kills for East Lyme (12-2, 4-1).

    • Grasso Tech beat Windham Tech 3-1 in a Connecticut Technical Conference match. Jada Muirhead had 14 serve points and 20 kills, Calianix Mercado had 11 serve points and 22 assists and Alandra Johnson had 24 kills for the Eagles (4-7, 4-5), who won 25-14, 15-25, 25-21, 27-25.

    In other matches:

    • Wheeler blanked Putnam in an ECC Division IV match on Wednesday, 25-12, 25-15, 25-21. Abby Butremovic had 15 digs and five aces, Addie Stanley had two aces and three kills and Morgyn Perkins had three aces and two kills for the Lions (5-8, 3-1).

    • Bacon Academy defeated Ledyard in an ECC Division II match on Wednesday, 17-25, 25-17, 26-24, 25-18. Meghan Walsh had 11 kills, Kieva Stewart had 45 assists and seven kills and Jillian Snow had 24 assists for the Bobcats (7-6, 2-2). Sarah Banach had 10 digs, Bella Schweitzer and Shyann Mckeon had eight kills each andAva Oliver and Keara Opelinik had six blocks each for the Colonels (5-9, 0-4).

    H.S. boys’ soccer

    • Robert Stoddard scored twice as unbeaten East Lyme beat Fitch 4-0 in an ECC Division I game. AJ Montejano had two assists, Ryan Wargo and Max Montejano scored goals, Dom Stefanski had an assist and Ben Johnson and Ollie Lopez had three saves each for the Vikings (10-0, 4-0). Nate Virtue had 12 saves for Fitch (1-7-2, 0-3).

    • Waterford scored once in reach half and beat Montville 2-0. Ian Rush and Griffin Neal scored goals, Jaydev Villa had an assist and Ben Dubicki made six saves for the Lancers (7-4). Adonis Santiago made six saves for Montville (9-2-1).

    • Louis Hawkins III scored twice and had an assist as NFA beat Woodstock 5-2 in an ECC Division I game. Logan Jenkins and Jaden Perkins had goals and Remington Walsh and Josh Lavoie had assists for NFA (7-4, 2-1).

    • Bacon Academy beat Killingly 2-0. Colby Butterfield and Eddie Hageman scored goals and JP Fougerouse had an assist for the Bobcats (5-5).

    • Damir Mangan and Lucas Rode scored three goals each as Grasso Tech beat Putnam 6-1 in a nonleague game. Luca Iglesias had five assists, Richard Parsons had an assist and Nolan Blewitt, Iglesias and goalie Ethan Dion led the defense for the Eagles (3-5-1).

    • Peyton Luther scored three goals and had an assist as Ledyard remained unbeaten with a 6-1 win over New London. Ryan Hernandez had a goal and two assists, Sebby Fieldsend had a goal and an assist, Ben Crowe hada goal, Sean O’Brien had an assist and Paulo Templeton made five saves for the Colonels (10-0). Niko Churis scored on a penalty kick for New London and Jairo Ruiz made 10 saves for the Whalers (8-4).

    • Sal Alessio scored four goals as Stonington beat Griswold 9-0. Sawyer VanLew had a goal and two assists, Chase Donarruma, Brayden Wolfradt, Andy Kramer and Cohan Hinchey scored goals and Sean Lord, Jace Wolfradt, Landon Pelletier and Ethan Cabrera had assists for the Bears (6-5).

    • Harrison Avery scored three goals as Wheeler beat Tourtellotte 5-1 in an ECC Division IV game. Jon Anderson had a goal and an assist, David Levanto and Brodey Pappas scored goals and Nolan Varas and Wyatt Hayes had assists for the Lions (7-4, 5-1).

    H.S. field hockey

    • Katie Jamroga scored three goals as Waterford beat Killingly 4-1 in an ECC game. Tori Campisi scored a goal and Sam Silva and Sarah Davidson had assists for the Lancers (6-6, 5-4). Killingly led 1-0 on a goal by Kendra St. Marie.

    H.S. swimming

    • Sophia Pacheco and Anna Orphanides won two events each as the Fitch co-op remained unbeaten with a 96-69 win over Hand in a nonleague meet. Pacheco won the 200-yard freestyle (2:03.95) and 500 freestyle (5:36.56) and Orphanides won the 50 freestyle (26.30) and 100 butterfly (1:03.75).

    Jai-Lynn Wheeler and Kaitlyn Kumpf also won events for the Falcons (6-0). Laura Letellier, Audrey Schrage and Elliott Singer helped Fitch win two relays.

    H.S. girls’ soccer

    • Hannah Viele scored twice in the first half as Wheeler beat Tourtellotte 3-0 in an ECC Division IV game. Katie Pierce had a goal and an assist and Valentina Corrigan had an assist for the Lions (5-5, 3-1), who outshot Tourtellotte 20-4.

    Women’s soccer

    • Mitchell College snapped a nine-game losing streak, beating Anna Maria 2-0 in a Great Northeast Athletic Conference game. Elon Johnson and New London’s Cassandra Roman scored goals and Gemma Landry made three saves for the Mariners (3-9-1, 1-9-1).
