    High school soccer roundup: Colonels celebrate Senior Day with a win

    Ledyard — Lia Day had two goals and Olivia Storz celebrated Senior Day with a goal as the Ledyard High School girls’ soccer team defeated Wheeler 5-1.

    Ledyard led 2-1 at halftime on goals by Maddie McLeod and Day, while Day, Teagan Caviness and Storz scored in the second half for the Colonels (3-9-2). Leah Cleary scored for Wheeler (7-7).

    In other games:

    • Valley Regional scored three goals in the second half to beat Montville 4-1. Allie Kondash scored an unassisted goal in the second half for Montville (6-7-2).

    • Alina Skrabacz had a goal and an assist in New London’s 5-2 loss to Windham in ECC Division IV, giving Skrabacz, the Whalers’ senior captain, six goals and three assists this week. Gisele Gordillo added a goal for New London (3-11, 0-4) and Italia Salls made 16 saves in goal.

    Boys

    • Kevin DeCapua scored twice for Old Saybrook, once on a penalty kick, as Old Saybrook handed East Lyme its first loss of the season, 2-1. Old Saybrook (12-0-2) is the No. 1 team in the Class M/S division of the Connecticut boys’ soccer coaches’ poll, while East Lyme is No. 4 in the Class LL/L division. Robert Stoddard scored on an assist by Ben Johnson for East Lyme (13-1), which outshot Old Saybrook 11-4.

    • Tyler Gagliardi scored to give Williams a 1-0 win over Forman. Lucas Lucht earned the shutout with five saves for Williams (3-8-1).
