    Local roundup: Norwich Tech boys continue to roll with 3-0 soccer win over Tourtellotte

    Thompson — Michael George had a big day as Norwich Tech rolled to a 3-0 non-league boys’ soccer victory over Tourtellotte on Sunday afternoon.

    George scored a pair of first-half goals and then assisted on a goal by Lukas Weitknecht in the second half for the Warriors, now 11-1-2 overall.

    Emerson Avery assisted on George’s first goal in the 11th minute while Anthony Caisse set up George for his second goal in the 32nd minute.

    In other matches:

    • A goal by John Fitzgibbons with 6:52 remaining in the first half stood up as Killingly posted a 1-0 victory over Wheeler. The Lions (9-6) held a 7-4 edge in shots and 4-0 in corner kicks, but could get the ball past Killingly goalie Trent Pichie, who saved all seven shots. Jon Anderson mad three saves in goal for Killingly.

    Men’s water polo

    • Connecticut College finished play in the CWPA D3 Eastern Championships with a 14-9 win over Penn State Behrend in Cambridge, Mass. Cormac Stevens led the Camels (2-10) with five goals while Carson Neidert added four, Jessie Ellis scored three and Jeffrey Harrington two.

    H.S. field hockey

    • Sam Silva scored twice as Waterford beat Morgan 3-0 in a nonleague game on Saturday. Katie Jamroga scored a goal and Sarah Davidson had an assist for the Lancers (8-6).

    American Legion baseball

    • Waterford swept the Zone 6 top honors, Commissioner John Krot announced recently. Zion Fraser was named Player of the Year and Anthony Jessuck was the Pitcher of the Year.

    Other Waterford players on the team were Justin Saad, Joe Basso, Cam McGugan, Brian Ingraham and Evan McCue. Norwich players Mason Bordeau, Anthony Sanchez, Chris Southworth and Randy Jimenez also made the team.

    Rounding out the team were Tyler Ezzel and Joshua Hanks of Moosup, Keon Lamarche, Zachary Roethlein and Brandon Baker of Danielson and Willimantic’s Jack Valliere, Parker Woodmansee, Gavin Covell and Sam LaCombe.

    Women’s soccer

    • Coast Guard Academy defeated Mount Holyoke 2-1 in a New England Women’s and Men’s Athletic Conference match on Saturday. Karagan Bulger scored both goals for the Bears (4-10-2, 3-4-2), the second one breaking a 1-1 tie with 27:44 remaining. Sidney Palinka assisted on the first goal and Mia Forti set up the game-winner.
