    UConn finances

    • The UConn Division of Athletics announces its annual NCAA financial report for the fiscal year 2022-2023, highlighting a reduction in direct institutional support by 35 percent last year.

The amount of institutional support received by UConn Athletics in FY23 totaled $30.2 million, a decrease of 35% ($16.3 million) compared to the $46.5 million received in FY22. In addition to decreases in personnel costs, the 35% reduction was due, in part, to substantial increases in overall ticket sales and fundraising revenues.

UConn Athletics was able to self-generate nearly 60% of its own revenues in FY23, as compared to 44% in FY22. Fiscal year 2023 also saw 7,257 people donate to Athletics, representing a 59% increase from FY16 while total financial commitments have doubled from FY19 to FY23. UConn has garnered $98.2 million in gifts over the last four fiscal years (FY20-FY23).

Athletics’ budget reached $93.1 million in FY23, comprised of $83.1 million in direct expenditures, $2.85 million in payments of interest on bonds for stadium and AAC exit fees and $7.15 million in expenses funded through donations maintained by the UConn Foundation.
