Storrs — The UConn football program finalized the dates for its 2024 schedule and for the first time since the 2016 season will play seven home games at Rentschler Field, including a string of six straight.

The Huskies, who begin their fourth season competing as an FBS independent, will open the season on Aug. 31 at Maryland, the fourth meeting all-time between the two schools and first since 2012 season. UConn’s home opener will take place a week later as the Huskies welcome FCS opponent Merrimack on Sept. 7.

UConn will have additional home games against Florida Atlantic (Sept. 21), Buffalo (Sept. 28), Temple (Oct. 5), Wake Forest (Oct. 19), Rice (Oct. 26) and Georgia State (Nov. 2). The six straight homes games mark the longest homestand in the Huskies’ 21 seasons at Rentschler Field.

In addition to the road trip to Maryland, UConn plays at Duke (Sept. 14) and closes the season with consecutive road games at UAB (Nov. 9), Syracuse (Nov. 23) and UMass (Nov. 30). The Huskies face three Atlantic Coast Conference teams in Duke, Wake Forest and Syracuse.

Game times and television information for the 2024 schedule will be announced at a later date.

The Huskies, who will be led by third-year head coach Jim Mora, were 3-9 last season, closing their schedule with back-to-back wins over Sacred Heart and UMass.
