    H.S. baseball roundup: Cimini powers Bears past Vikings

    East Lyme — Dylan Cimini homered and drove in four runs Saturday as Stonington beat East Lyme, 8-5.

    Aaron LoPresto threw four innings of scoreless relief and earned the victory for the Bears (2-1).

    Liam Cochrane had two hits, including a triple, for the Vikings (0-1).

    In other games:

    • Wheeler scored six runs in the second inning and won its second game in as many days, 10-0 over Ledyard. Wyatt Elliott had two hits and three RBI for the Lions (2-0).

    • Trace Morales homered and drove in three runs as Fitch defeated Bacon Academy 8-4. Donte Valentine had two hits and earned the win, throwing three scoreless innings with five strikeouts. Tommy Rogers and Griffin Pollard had two hits apiece for Fitch (1-0).

    • Ayden Kempesta pitched six innings with 13 strikeouts as Norwich Free Academy defeated Plainfield, 9-3. Randy Jiminez had three hits and scored twice for NFA.

    • Martin Light didn’t allow his first hit until two outs in the bottom of the 7th and led St. Bernard to an 8-0 win over Greenwich. Light also had four hits, two runs scored and two stolen bases for the Saints (1-0). Chris Tonucci, Desmond Powers and Bryan Lowe had two hits apiece for the Saints.

    • Jack Porter had three hits, four RBI and four runs scored as Old Lyme defeated Old Saybrook, 17-2 in the Shoreline Conference. Grady Lacourciere was the winning pitcher for Old Lyme (2-1, 2-0) with 10 strikeouts.

    • Waterford moved to 3-0 on the season with wins of 11-1 over Griswold and 15-2 over Ledyard. Colby Sheehan was the winning pitcher in the first game, allowing one hit over five innings. Sheehan went 3-for-3 in the second game, where Max Petrini also drove in three runs. Griswold is 3-1 and Ledyard 0-2.

    • Montville lost to Woodstock 5-1 at Mitchell College. Jack Treat singled, doubled and scored a run for the Wolves (3-1).
