    H.S. lacrosse: Fitch girls hold on to 11-9 victory over East Lyme in ECC Division I

    Groton — Tied at halftime and up by one goal after three quarters, the Fitch High School girls’ lacrosse team held on for an 11-9 victory Saturday over East Lyme in Eastern Connecticut Conference Division I, making it the first win for the Falcons in program history against the Vikings.

    The scored was 4-4 at halftime, with Fitch pulling ahead 9-8 after three.

    Bethany Lovering had three goals and three assists with two caused turnovers for Fitch (7-2, 4-1), Gabby Dimock had three goals and Stella Connell and Brooke Bergendahl each had two goals and two assists. Elaina Brookhart made six saves for the Falcons.

    Gianna DiLoreto scored three goals and Jessica Knapp and Riddhi Venkatesh had two each for East Lyme (3-8, 2-1).

    In other games:

    • Molly Page scored seven goals and Norwich Free Academy defeated Woodstock Academy 21-4 in ECC Division I. Alice Rourke scored five times and Alex Tabilas added four for the Wildcats (7-4, 2-3).

    • Sydney Goulding had six goals and one assist, including the 100th goal of her career, in Old Lyme’s 14-6 win over Old Saybrook in the Shoreline Conference. Alexis Antonellis added four goals and two assists, Ella Curtiss-Reardon three goals and Avra Montazella made six saves for Old Lyme (9-1, 8-0).

    • Bacon Academy/East Hampton picked up its first win of the season, beating Griswold/Norwich Tech 10-7. Lanie McIllduff scored four goals for Bacon (1-8). Sienna Caron had three goals and an assist and Kaylin Stockwell scored twice for Griswold (4-8).

    Boys

    • Roman Rich scored 10 goals and Fitch defeated NFA in ECC Division I 18-10. Boden Frost had seven assists for the Falcons (11-2, 5-1). Logan Jenkins had seven goals for NFA (4-8, 2-4).

    • Drew Sager had four goals and four assists as East Lyme defeated Stonington 17-1 in a rematch of last season’s ECC finals. Jack Campbell and Gabe Hanney also scored four goals apiece for the Vikings (7-3). Stonington is 6-6.

    • Griffin Neal and Johan Deon scored two goals apiece as Waterford edged Morgan 6-5. Darien Sherwood made nine saves for the Lancers (4-8).

    • Ben Howes had five goals and six assists in St. Bernard/Wheeler’s 17-5 win over Woodstock Academy. Noah Courter had three goals and four assists and Will Sluggett and Jimmy Niles also scored three goals each for the Saints (8-3).
