    H.S. tennis roundup: Lancers defeat Colonels, as Bears remain unbeaten

    Stonington High School’s Grace Duggan won her No. 1 singles match Monday to lead the Bears past Woodstock Academy 7-0. The Bears remain unbeaten at 13-0 with a chance to wrap up the Eastern Connecticut Conference Division I title with a win Tuesday against Waterford.     Waterford — The No. 1 duo of Sophia Sit and Hazel Siu won their match in straight sets to lead a doubles sweep, as the Waterford High School girls’ tennis team defeated Ledyard 5-2 on Monday.

    Sarah Hage and Tori Campisi posted singles victories at No. 1 and No. 4, respectively, for the Lancers, who improved to 11-2.

    Maple Siu and Brianne Kilcomons and Madi Gamble and Grace Stilphen also won their doubles matches. Waterford, which is 3-1 in Eastern Connecticut Conference Division I, will take on first-place Stonington (5-0) in a key match Tuesday in Stonington.

    Cassie Rice and Sarah Banach earned singles wins for Ledyard (8-5).

    In other matches:

    • Grace Duggan, Marcella Hamm, Marina Lewandowski and Misha Lewandowski won singles matches as Stonington blanked Woodstock Academy 7-0. The Bears are 13-0.

    • Anna Beauchene, Allie Kondash, Jess Hochdorfer and Kelly Chen picked up singles wins, leading Montville past Windham/Windham Tech 4-3 in Division III. The Wolves are 6-9, 5-2.

    • Sarah Manzione, Blake Murray, Meri Kimbolli and Zhuning Gao won their singles matches in straight sets in St. Bernard’s 6-1 win over New London in Division III. The Saints improved to 10-2, 7-0. The No. 3 doubles duo of Addison Hurd and Michaella Skyers won their match for the Whalers (2-12, 0-7).

    • Fitch swept Norwich Free Academy 7-0, receiving singles wins from Julia Mielguj, Charlotte Beaulieu, Maddie Beaulieu and Fiza Shariff. The Falcons are 7-4, the Wildcats 3-9.

    • Valentina Schiano, Isabella Villarreal and Avni Kabra posted straight set wins in singles, as East Lyme defeated Killingly 6-1. The Vikings are 7-5.

    Boys

    • Danny Zhong won his No. 2 singles match in straight sets in Montville’s 4-2 loss to Morgan. Jack Bowman and Ryan Hochdorfer earned a victory at No. 1 doubles for the Wolves (11-6).

    • No. 2 singles player Malloch Allison scored the only point for Ledyard in a 6-1 loss to Westbrook. The Colonels fell to 9-6.
