Former executive accused of stealing from hospitals in Danbury and Ohio

Danbury (AP) - A former executive has pleaded not guilty to federal charges that he stole nearly $200,000 from Connecticut and Ohio hospitals.

William Roe of Wilton, the former senior vice president, treasurer and chief financial officer of Danbury Hospital, is charged with wire fraud, witness tampering, obstruction of justice and other crimes.

U.S. District Court Judge Holly Fitzsimmons on Thursday released the 56-year-old on a $150,000 bond and ordered him to wear an electronic tracking device.

Prosecutors accuse Roe of writing checks from the account of Danbury Hospital's parent company and St. Rita's Medical Center of Lima, Ohio, to his own firm, Cycle Software Solutions of Jessup, Pa.

Defense attorney Richard Meehan says Roe "believes he has a defense to these allegations."
