Hearing to address July Metro-North Railroad stranding
Westport (AP) - Connecticut's acting transportation commissioner and the president of Metro-North Railroad are hosting a public forum to discuss the July 22 disruption that left passengers stuck inside a train in heat that exceeded 100 degrees.
The meeting is scheduled for Thursday evening at Westport Town Hall.
The Department of Transportation says it will be an opportunity for state and rail officials to hear customers' experiences, concerns and suggestions.
Metro-North is expected to release the results of an internal investigation into the event on the New Haven Line.
Jim Cameron, who heads up the rail commuter council, says some riders felt so desperate they called 911 to be rescued from the train. He said the incident highlighted a communications breakdown.
