Man due in court for attempted UConn abduction

Vernon (AP) — A 57-year-old Ashford man charged with trying to abduct a woman at the University of Connecticut is due in court to face charges of attempted kidnapping and attempted aggravated sexual assault.

Bruce Ursin is scheduled to be arraigned Friday in Rockville Superior Court.

The woman told police she was walking on Horsebarn Hill Road Thursday afternoon when a masked man with a pistol drove up and told her to get into his pickup truck. She ran and called police.

University officials sent a text message alert about the incident to the UConn community, and a person who received the message saw the truck in Ashford and called police.

Ursin was arrested and held on $1 million bail. It's not clear if he has a lawyer.
