Connecticut AFL-CIO delegates to announce endorsements

Hartford (AP) — Connecticut largest labor organization will be announcing its endorsements of candidates for the U.S. Senate and the five U.S. House of Representatives seats.

The Connecticut AFL-CIO is wrapping up its ninth biennial political convention on Tuesday. It's being held at the Hartford Hilton.

Approximately 275 delegates heard from most of the candidates on Monday. Former U.S. Rep. Christopher Shays, who is challenging former wrestling executive Linda McMahon in the Aug. 14 Republican Senate primary, will be addressing the group in the morning.

U.S. Rep. Chris Murphy, the endorsed Democratic candidate for Senate, is expected to win the endorsement of the labor umbrella organization. He has already received the backing of many member unions.

Murphy faces a Democratic primary challenge from former Secretary of the State Susan Bysiewicz (BY'-suh-wits).
