Foley announces exploratory committee for 2014 governor race

BRIDGEPORT — Republican Tom Foley has formed an exploratory committee as he weighs another run for Connecticut governor.

The Greenwich businessman and former U.S. ambassador to Ireland lost a close race to Democratic Gov. Dannel P. Malloy in 2010.

He said at a news conference Tuesday in Bridgeport that Connecticut's cities have suffered during Malloy's administration. He said the governor's policies have added to the tax burden for middle-income families and driven businesses from the state.

Malloy has not yet said whether he intends to seek a second term in 2014.
