Man fatally wounded in Connecticut police shooting

Farmington (AP) — Connecticut police say a man was fatally wounded in a Farmington police shooting after officers arrived in response to a domestic disturbance.

Farmington police say officers responded to a report of violence at a local residence Thursday night between a father and an adult son. Police say officers were confronted in the street by a man who had a firearm.

WFSB-TV reports that the man was shot after refusing to put down the gun.

A police news release was not specific about what happened next only to say officers "engaged the individual" and one officer shot him.

The man was declared dead at the scene.
