Newtown panel to discuss prosecutor's report

Hartford (AP) — The commission created by Gov. Dannel P. Malloy in the wake of the deadly school shooting in Newtown is meeting to discuss a recent report released by State's Attorney Stephen Sedensky into the massacre.

The Sandy Hook Advisory Commission is expected on Friday to also discuss the response by law enforcement to the Dec. 14, 2012 event. The Connecticut Police Chiefs Association is scheduled to make a presentation.

Following the shooting, the Newtown police chief asked the association to conduct a review of the police response. The association visited Newtown, interviewed officers and studied documentation, including 911 audio, police radio and video. The chiefs said officers responded rapidly and followed current policy.

Malloy's panel last met in August. The group is reviewing current policies and making recommendations about public safety.
