HARTFORD — The unsolved murder case of a Connecticut woman who was strangled 33 years ago is getting new attention.

Raquel Ramirez was 29 when she was found dead under Interstate 91 in Hartford near the Connecticut River on June 30, 1985. The mother of three was last seen with friends in her neighborhood between 1 a.m. and 3 a.m. the same day.

Her daughter, Brenda Perez, and police investigators on Tuesday visited the site where her mother's body was found to try to generate leads.

Police have investigated several possible motives but say they don't know why someone would have wanted to kill Ramirez.

Perez, who was 10 when her mother was killed, has been working with police to find the killer for over a decade. Among other efforts, Ramirez's face has been on playing cards distributed to prison inmates in hopes of bringing in new leads.

Detective Andrew Jacobson said he believes Perez went willfully to the place where was killed and was not dragged or carried there. He said the crime did not appear to be random.

"I'm not ruling out anything, whether it's a person who is a boyfriend, ex-husband, or someone who just knows her," acobson told WFSB-TV.
