    Woman who got out of her car after a crash in Meriden struck and killed by another vehicle

    A woman who got out of her car after being involved in a crash on Route 15 in Meriden early Sunday morning was killed when she was struck by another vehicle, police said.

    Breanna Rivera, 29, of Southington, had been driving her Hyundai Genesis on Route 15 northbound near the Miller Avenue exit ramp when she was involved in a crash with a Ford F250 driven by Manuel Hermo Romero-Macas, 55, of Torrington, according to Connecticut State Police Troop I.

    Rivera and Romero-Macas both pulled over after the crash, stopping in the left and right lanes.

    Rivera got out of her car and was struck by a Chevrolet Cruz that was driving north in the left lane about 1:36 a.m., police said.

    She suffered fatal injuries and was pronounced dead at the scene, police said.

    Romero-Macas and one of his passengers, 55-year-old Radolpho Hooker, of Torrington, were taken to Yale New Haven Hospital with suspected serious injuries, police said.

    Another passenger in Romero-Macas’ truck, 23-year-old Alexander Abad-Pena, was taken to St. Mary’s Hospital with injuries that were believed to be minor, police said.

    The driver of the Cruz, Daniella Sanchez, 20, of Waterbury, was taken to Yale New Haven Hospital with suspected minor injuries, police said.
