Data security breach impacts Conn. assisted living and rehabilitation centers

A health care provider that owns and operates Connecticut nursing facilities and rehabilitation centers is warning potentially impacted individuals about a data security breach.

On Friday, Atlas Healthcare CT announced that personal information of some people who received care at Manchester Rehabilitation and Healthcare Center, Arbors of Hop Brook, and Vernon Rehabilitation and Healthcare Center, may have been accessed by a third party.

The breach happened on Jan. 20, 2023, and included files that contained names, addresses, dates of birth, Social Security numbers, medical information, health insurance information, driver’s license numbers and financial information, Atlas said in a statement.

The company said they conducted “a prompt and thorough investigation,” notified police and engaged cybersecurity professionals  to determine the extent of the breach.

Atlas notified those affected by the breach via mail and is offering free credit monitoring services to those who are eligible. Individuals affected are encouraged to be vigilant in reviewing their banking statements and credit reports, the company said.

Atlas also established a toll-free response line for those affected, available from 8 a.m. to 8 p.m. Monday through Friday at 1-833-413-2609.

“The security and privacy of personal information is of the utmost importance to Atlas,” the company said in a statement. “Atlas continually evaluates and modifies its practices to enhance the security and privacy of personal information and is taking measures to augment its existing cybersecurity.”
