Three smoke shops cited in Bristol for selling nicotine, vape devices to underage customers

Three smoke shops in Bristol have been cited for selling electronic nicotine or vape devices to underage customers, police said.

The Bristol Police Department Narcotic Enforcement Team on Tuesday conducted unannounced visits using underage individuals who acted undercover following a tip last month suggesting that several stores in Bristol were selling tobacco and vape products to those under 21, according to police.

The initiative was done in conjunction with members of the Connecticut Department of Mental Health and Addiction Services Tobacco Prevention and Enforcement Program.

During the unannounced compliance visits, police said three stores were found in violation of the state’s tobacco laws.

Muhamed Ali, 22, who owns the Smoke Hive at 795 King St., was charged with the sale of an electronic nicotine system or vapor product to minors, police said.

Nasser Nadeesh, 64, who owns Leo Smoke and Vape at 257 Main St., faces the same charge as Ali, according to police.

Usman Muhammad, 36, a clerk at the Gas Man gas station at 180 Riverside Ave., was also charged with the sale of an electronic nicotine system or vapor product to minors.
