State police report 20 DUI arrests so far during holiday weekend

Connecticut State Police said that as of 6 a.m. Christmas Eve, troopers had reported 300 motor vehicle violations over the holiday weekend.

State police said there were just under 2,290 calls for service, with little over 210 motor vehicle accidents. Nineteen of those resulted in injuries, including one on Route 9 in Essex. In addition, there were two fatalities, one in Franklin and the other in Westport.

About half of the motor vehicle violations were speeding violations and the other half were other moving violations, according to data released by state police. Police said there were only five seatbelt violations.
