Jewett City man killed in Maine motorcycle crash

A Connecticut man died last week in a motorcycle accident in Maine, officials say.

Maine State Police said the crash took place around 6:30 p.m. Friday on the Maine Turnpike in Biddeford.

Police said an initial investigation showed Zachary Swain, 21, of Jewett City, was exiting the highway and failed to negotiate the curved southbound off-ramp. They said he struck the guardrail and was thrown from the motorcycle.

Swain was pronounced dead at the scene by rescue personnel, police said, adding the off-ramp was closed for two hours while the crash was investigated.

Police said Swain was wearing a helmet.
