Private Connecticut school uncovers cases of student abuse
GREENWICH — The headmaster of a Connecticut private school says an independent investigation has found that two former teachers sexually abused at least eight students during their tenures from the late 1960s through the 1990s.
The Greenwich Time reports that Adam Rohdie, headmaster of Greenwich Country Day School, sent an email informing families and faculty of the outside law firm's findings on Friday.
Neither teacher still works at the school. One has died. The school reported its findings to law enforcement and state child welfare officials.
Rohdie, who started working at the school after both teachers had left, said the school now has "formal policies and procedures" in place to prevent abuse of students.
Greenwich Country Day, founded in 1926, is a coeducational school with 900 students in preschool through ninth grade.
