Recount shows Connecticut House speaker wining seat by 50 votes

Hartford (AP) — A post-election recount shows Connecticut Speaker of the House Joe Aresimowicz has won his legislative district by 50 votes.

The votes were re-tallied Tuesday in the 30th Assembly District. Aresimowicz had originally led Republican Michael Gagliardi by 37 votes, but picked up eight in Southington and five in Berlin.

Meanwhile, another recount shows Republican state Rep. Noreen Kokoruda, of Madison, has won re-election to the 101st Assembly District by 18 votes. The original tally had her ahead of Democrat John-Michael Parker by 23 votes.

Recount results are pending in Stratford's House seat, where incumbent Democrat Rep. Phil Young holds an 18-vote lead over Republican Jim Feehan. There's also a recount in the 17th state Senate District race between Republican Sen. George Logan, of Ansonia, and Democrat Jorge Cabrera, of Hamden.
