    Coast Guard to open 3 seasonal stations this week

    BOSTON (AP) — The Coast Guard is opening three seasonal stations later this week.

    The Coast Guard announced Tuesday that stations Scituate, Massachusetts; Block Island, Rhode Island; and Fishers Island, New York, are scheduled to open Friday and remain open through Labor Day.

    The stations' crews will conduct search and rescue, maritime law enforcement, and recreational boating safety missions.

    Each station is equipped with response boats and crews able to respond to maritime emergencies.

    Chief Warrant Officer Terrill Malvesti is the commanding officer of Station Scituate.

    Master Chief Petty Officer Steven Beasley is the commanding officer of Station Block Island.

    Lt. Nina McDonald is the commanding officer of Station Fishers Island.
