Woman charged in missing mom case makes court appearance

STAMFORD (AP) — A woman charged in connection with the disappearance of a Connecticut mother of five has made a brief appearance in court where her out-of-state travel was discussed.

Michelle Troconis has pleaded not guilty to evidence tampering and hindering prosecution in connection with the May 24 disappearance of New Canaan resident Jennifer Dulos.

The 44-year-old Troconis is the girlfriend of Dulos' estranged husband, Fotis Dulos, who has pleaded not guilty to the same charges.

Both are free on $500,000 bond.

A judge allowed Troconis to travel to New York under electronic monitoring by the state. Prosecutors said Thursday she returned to Connecticut without notifying them.

Her attorney said she returned because there were problems with the electronic monitoring device. They've been resolved.

She is due back in court Aug. 19.
