Victim in Westerly shooting to move out of hospital intensive care
NEW HAVEN (AP) — A woman who was critically injured in a shooting at a Rhode Island apartment complex is moving out of the intensive care unit at a Connecticut hospital.
Robin Moss, 38, of Cranston, was shot three times during the Dec. 19 shooting at Babcock Village in Westerly, R.I., that left two dead and one other person wounded. She was flown to Yale New Haven Hospital where she has been steadily improving.
Robin Moss has undergone about nine surgeries, and the shooting damaged some of her vital organs, her husband Ron Moss told WJAR-TV on Monday. Ron Moss said he doesn't expect there to be any permanent damage but said they can't know for sure.
“Just a few days ago they didn't know if she was going to pull through,” Ron Moss said. “Now for her to be transferred out of the ICU — it's just a miracle, every day has been."
