    The Remote

    American Idol

    8 p.m., Fox

Oh dear. Couple things. 1) It's Beatles night. Which, if you remember correctly, we did a two-fer of back in the David Cook-David Archuleta season. So, really, with this group, I am expecting largely not-great things. "Let It Be" anyone? 2) We are down to nine contestants, but it is still two hours long. Ugh. 3) Never mind the irrelevance of Ellen. It's the Ramblings of Ryan that are really getting to me this season.

    Dancing with the Stars

    8 p.m., ABC

I'm guessing that no matter what actually happens on the dance floor, or what numbers appear on the judges' palettes, Pamela Anderson is going home. America does not like, um, that.

    Lost

    9 p.m., ABC

Desmond!!!! He's back and Widmore's got him. Sure, Widmore. Spend all your time trying to rid the world and Penny of sweet Desmond and then discover that you, in fact, need him. What I found most interesting last week, though, was Locke's explanation of things to Claire: He needs those Candidates all together, like the world's wackiest tour group, in order to get off the island on Lapidus' plane. Kate is not one of them, and neither is Claire. He reassured Claire (liar) and made it sound like doomsday for Kate. But here's the thing: If you die in Locke's War on the Island Now, what happens to you in the L.A. Now? And if you are Sun, and get shot in the L.A. Now, and, oh I don't know, die, what happens to you on the Island Now? Six eps, kids. My goodness.
