Storrs — UConn has added a pair of transfers to its football program, head coach Randy Edsall announced Tuesday.

Running back Robert Burns, a graduate transfer from Miami, and offensive tackle Valentin Senn, an undergraduate transfer from Colorado, will enroll this summer and be eligible immediately, Burns will have two years of eligibility and Senn four.

"We are very excited about Robert and Valentin joining  our UConn Football Family as we head into the 2021 season," Edsall said in a release. "Robert is an experienced back with a little more size than what we have at the position currently. Valentin is a young man we are familiar with as he attended our summer football camps a couple of years ago. He has excellent size and ability for his position."

The 5-foot-10, 220-pound Burns grew up in Miami and played nine games with the Hurricanes last season, mostly on special teams. He recently graduated with a degree in communications with a 3.05 GPA.

Prior to playing at Miami, Burns added Gulliver Prep in Pinecrest, Fla., where he played in the 2017 Under Armour All-America Game was rated a four-star prospect and the No. 11 ranked running back by ESPN.

The 6-7, 310-pound Senn is from Volders, Austria, and spent the 2020 season as reserve offensive tackle and a member of the travel squad. He was a three-star prospect out and ranked as the No. 2 prospect in Europe and top prospect from Austria by ESPN. He attended BKAK Hall in Tirol, Austria.

UConn also announced it has added a home-and-home series with Alabama-Birmingham in 2024 and 2025. The Huskies will visit UAB on Nov. 9, 2024 and host the Blazers on Nov. 1, 2025 at Rentschler Field. The two programs have never played, although the Huskies have played at UAB's home — Legion Field — where UConn beat South Carolina 20-7 in the 2010 PapaJohns.com Bowl.
