Sen. Art Linares Visits Essex-Saybrook Antiques Village; Touts Legislation
Sen. Art Linares on June 18 visited Essex-Saybrook Antiques Village to discuss legislation he is co-sponsoring which establishes a “Connecticut Antiques Trail” to identify and market Connecticut sites where antiques are sold.
The measure has been voted on favorably by the Connecticut General Assembly and now awaits the governor’s signature.
Under the proposal, state economic development officials must identify and include in the trail major antiques dealers and communities with a high concentration of antiques dealers. The state must promote the trail through signs, notices, and an internet website.
“We have antiques dealers in all corners of our state,” Sen. Linares said. “It makes a lot of sense for us to promote these unique, small businesses and get them the attention they deserve.”
Essex-Saybrook Antiques Village is located at 945 Middlesex Turnpike in Old Saybrook. On the web: www.essexsaybrookantiquesvillage.com .
