Athletic bloodlines run deep for Julius Washington, a sophomore boys’ basketball player at New London High. Washington’s mother, Jessica, played girls’ basketball for the Whalers and later at Division I Pittsburgh. His uncles, Lou and Tim Allen, played on East Lyme’s 2003 state championship football team (Lou Allen later played at UConn). Washington and the Whalers will play in the third Day Holiday Classic on Monday night at Mohegan Sun Arena.
