Martin Lawrence hits Foxwoods behind latest standup special

On Friday, comedian Martin Lawrence hits the Grand Theater in Foxwoods for his first local stop since the release, earlier this year, of a standup special for Showtime called "Doin' Time: Uncut."

Reviews of the special have been mixed, many claiming that Lawrence relies a bit too much on older material or tired takes on sex and relationships. At the same time, Lawrence also riffs on aging/bodily functions, Bill Cosby, President Obama and Hollywood — and if all of those seem easy targets, well, Lawrence is clever enough to offer fresh perspective.

Plus, a lot of younger fans know Lawrence more for his busy film career than his increasingly rare standup performances, so this is an opportunity to see him up close and raw.
