Ben Folds hits Foxwoods Saturday for solo show

Ben Folds is so creative and visionary that he recently composed a six-hands piano piece — and plays all of it using just his two hands!

Hmm, probably not, though if anyone's capable of such a thing, it'd be Folds. Solo, with his Ben Folds Five trio, in collaboration with such distinctive entities as University A Cappella! and the yMusic chamber music ensemble, or symphony orchestras, Folds has a nonstop creative fountain of pop music — which seems to cleverly distill such influences as Harry Nilsson, Rufus Wainwright, Elvis Costello, John Palumbo and Randy Newman.

It'll be in the solo guise when he comes through Saturday on his Ben Folds and a Piano tour, appearing in the Fox Theater at Foxwoods.

Ben Folds, 8 p.m. Saturday, Fox Theater, Foxwoods; $50; 1-800-200-2882.
