Songbook entertains Saturday at Side Door

Five years ago, two-time Grammy-winning jazz pianist/composer Alan Broadbent (Diana Krall, Charlie Haden, Natalie Cole) teamed with vocalist Georgia Mancio (Bobby McFerrin, Ian Shaw) to explore material from the Great American Songbook as well as collaborate on original material.

The result has been an album of their own tunes, "Songbook," as well as ecstatically received live shows at such notable places as Ronnie Scott's in London, the Krakow Jazz Festival in Poland and the Birdland Jazz Club in Berlin.

That Songbook — as the duo is now called — will perform Saturday at the Side Door Jazz Club in Old Lyme is a special opportunity to hear fresh spins on Jazz Past as well as new visions for Jazz Future.
