Outages persist for 2 percent of CL&P customers

Hartford (AP) — Connecticut Light & Power says about 25,000 customers are still without power, 10 days after a pre-Halloween storm dumped a foot of snow in parts of the state and brought down trees, branches and power lines.

That represents nearly 2 percent of the utility's 1.2 million customers. CL&P has promised that all customers will have their power on by Wednesday night.

Election Day is Tuesday when voters will elect municipal officials. Regular polling places were moved or consolidated in eight towns because there wasn't power or there was too much damage. Those municipalities are: Avon, Farmington, Newington, Plymouth, Simsbury, South Windsor, Stafford and Vernon.
