Local Roundup: Bears edged on second-half goal by Nichols

Dudley, Mass. ? Alyssa Tosti scored in the 48th minute Thursday as the Nichols College women's soccer team edged Coast Guard 1-0 in a nonconference game at Vendetti Field.

Coast Guard outshot Nichols 13-6. The Bears are 0-3.

"We played flat, unsettled and played Nichols' style of game and not our style of play," Coast Guard coach Susan Grant said.

"We didn't make the proper adjustments needed to gain the victory today as the communication broke down early in the game and that led to problems all over the field. We need to concentrate on the simple things that we are not currently executing and have that be our focus in the upcoming days."

Coast Guard is off until Wednesday when it takes on Mitchell College at 4 p.m.
