Stonington – Police say four Pawcatuck homes in the same neighborhood were burglarized Wednesday night and officers want residents to be on the alert.
Capt. Jerry Desmond of the Stonington Police Department said burglaries on Courtland Street, Field Street and Lathrop Avenue were reported sometime after 5 p.m. Wednesday and the early hours of Thursday. The four homes were unoccupied at the time of the crimes, Desmond said, and forced entry was used. Desmond said "there's a good possibility they're connected" but wouldn't say so absolutely. Items were taken from at least one of the homes, he said.
Desmond used the department's email alert notification system Thursday to inform the 2,500 residents on the list of the burglaries. An Everbridge phone alert is scheduled to call residents at 5:30 p.m. this evening.
"We want to let them know, and we don't know if whoever's involved would want to do it again," Desmond said. "And, at the same token, we want to keep them alert, and to see if they can bring valuable information to us."
Desmond said the department has developed some leads. Anyone who may have seen anything suspicious during that time period Wednesday is asked to call the department at 860-599-4411.
