ECC Championship Preview / Indoor Track

Norwich Free Academy's Brianna Lenehan is the top seed in three events for Saturday's Eastern Connecticut Conference Large Division indoor track and field championship at the Coast Guard Academy.

The Large Division meet, featuring Bacon Academy, East Lyme, Fitch, New London, NFA and Woodstock Academy, begins at 10 a.m. The Small Division meet, with Griswold, Killingly, Ledyard, Lyman Memorial, Montville, Plainfield, St. Bernard, Stonington, Tourtellotte and Waterford and Windham, is scheduled for 4 p.m.

Lenehan, the Gatorade Connecticut Girls' Cross Country Runner of the Year during the fall, is the top seed in the 1,000 meters (2:53.64), the 1,600 (5:04.34) and the 3,200 (11:28.09). Last year she won the 600 and ran a leg on the winning sprint medley relay team.

Teammate Dyshelle Pemberton is the top seed in the 300 and the 600, while on the boys' side, Fitch's Tyler Latham (55 hurdles, 300) and Lexus Gordon (high jump, long jump) and East Lyme's Ben Ostrowski (600, 1,000) are seeded first in two events.

NFA swept the boys' and girls' titles in the Large Division last year, while Griswold won both Small Division championships.

St. Bernard freshman Connor Gralton is seeded first in the 1,000 and the 1,600 in the Small Division meet, joining Killingly's Alex Mayo (55 dash, long jump) as being the favorite in two events. Griswold's Abigale Slonski is the top seed for the girls in the long jump and pole vault.
