Much talk, no action on addressing debt

I am in utter dismay as to why the issue of raising the debt ceiling continues to be such a center point for negotiating the country's budget. The president and Congress, both of whom share responsibility for this nation's fiscal health and ability to pay our debts, have allowed out-of-control spending and the lack of reasonable fiscal leadership to continue year after year.

Why is it so difficult to see that this problem will not disappear without taking strict actions to reduce debt? Sens. Blumenthal and Murphy, what are you doing to rebuild the nation's economy, lower the national debt, unify a divided nation, and ensure our future generations aren't going to be heavily taxed to make up for the mess you've allowed to perpetuate? Your constant rhetoric directed to strengthening the economy is transparent and ineffective.
