Norwich — A man was injured in a motor vehicle crash Friday in the Yantic section of Norwich, where a Jeep slammed into a rock ledge off the exit ramp of Route 2 at Exit 29.
The crash occurred at 1:24 p.m., and Yantic firefighters spent about 20 minutes cutting away pieces of the Jeep to free the driver, according to Yantic Deputy Chief Bernard "BJ" Herz.
The driver was treated at the scene by a paramedic from American Ambulance and rushed to The William W. Backus Hospital for treatment. The highway ramp was temporarily closed during the extrication.
State police from Troop E in Montville did not provide the identity of the driver or information on his condition Friday. Firefighters said his injuries did not appear to be life-threatening.
