Stonington — The Coast Guard Foundation is accepting scholarship applications from children of enlisted Coast Guard members until Saturday, March 15.
The scholarships range from $1,000 to $5,000 per year. The foundation, a non-profit organization committed to the education and welfare of Coast Guard members and their families, has given more than $3 million to 350 family members of Coast Guard men and women in the past 20 years through its scholarship program.
Last year the foundation received a record number of applicants and, with the excellent support from the community, said “yes” to every student who met the qualifications, said Anne Brengle, foundation president.
Children of Coast Guard members who are active duty, retired or deceased, or reservist currently on extended, 180 days or more active duty are eligible to apply for 2014 to 2015 education scholarships and grants. For more information, visit www.coastguardfoundation.org or call (860) 535-0786. The application can be found online at: 1coastguardfoundationscholars.communityforce.com/Funds/Search.aspx
