Analysis: Maine Maritime's triple-option attack has run 323 plays this season, passing the ball just 30 times. The Mariners lead the NEFC with 495 yards offense per game, including a league-best 440.8 rushing yards per game, and will test themselves against a Coast Guard defense which earned a shutout last week against Curry, led by Wood's three sacks. The down side for Maine Maritime is its defense. The Mariners allow a league-high 517.8 yards and 40.8 yards per game, giving up an NEFC-low 338.8 passing yards per game and may have trouble stopping the Bears' no-huddle spread offense. … Wawrzyniak was cleared to return as Coast Guard's running back after missing two weeks due to an ankle injury suffered in a Week 4 win over Nichols. The Bears, however, lost tight end Jordan Groff (26 catches, 332 yards, 6 TDs) for the season last week with a wrist injury. Junior Mitch Holloway is listed as Groff's replacement at tight end. … Brown, Coast Guard's senior wide receiver, set the program record for career catches last week (170) and eclipsed the 2,000-yard mark, as well. Brown has 2,030 yards, with a chance to catch career leader Christian Lee (2,356, 1993-96). … Coast Guard has won three straight against Maine Maritime, outscoring the Mariners 152-28 during that time. The Bears won 40-0 last year, amassing a season-high 463 yards of offense and taking advantage of four Mariners turnovers.
