Norwich police seek information in 2011 murder

Norwich — As the third anniversary of Jaclyn Wirth’s murder approaches Sunday, police said they are continuing to seek information that will lead to the arrest of those invovled in her death.

Wirth, 26, was shot at 1:42 a.m. Dec. 14 when someone sent a barrage of bullets through the door to her apartment at 6D East Baltic St., part of the Mohegan Common Apartments. She was struck multiple times, and first responders arrived to find her then 7-year-old son holding the phone used to call 911.

The boy witnessed the last moments of his mother’s life. While his then 2-year-old brother was sleeping at the time.

“The investigators and detectives have continued to work hard on solving this horrific crime,” said Police Chief Louis J. Fusaro in a statement. “We are convinced that there are still people who know what happened and have not talked to our investigators. Every bit of information, no matter how small, that individuals may have will bring us that much closer to getting justice for Jaclyn Wirth, her children and family.”

The Office of the Governor has authorized a $25,000 reward for information leading to an arrest in her death.

Wirth is also featured in the latest deck of “Connecticut Cold Case” playing cards, which are made available to prison inmates.

The Norwich Police Department along with the New London County Case Cold Unit continues to investigate her death.

Anyone with information about Wirth’s murder is encouraged to contact Investigator Kyle Besse at the Norwich Police Department at (860) 892-2892. Persons with information may also call the Norwich Police Department’s Anonymous Tip Line at (860) 886-5561, ext. 500 or the New London County Cold Case Tip line at (866) 623-8058.
