Collins - Filburn

David and Kathryn Collins of New London, are happy to announce the engagement of their daughter, Emily Kathryn, to Michael Filburn, son of Thomas and Kathleen Filburn of Granby.

The future bride holds bachelor's degrees in music and in education, as well as a master's degree in music performance from the University of Connecticut. She currently teaches middle school band in Southbridge, Mass. She is a 1999 graduate of New London High School.

The future groom also attended the University of Connecticut where he and Emily met while in the marching band. He is presently a systems analyst at Brooks Brothers Corporate Office in Enfield. He is a 2001 graduate of Granby Memorial High School.

The couple plans a July wedding at Ocean Beach Park in New London.
