    UPDATED: Fire quickly extinguished in Preston

    Preston - A fire at a single-family home at 52 School House Road was quickly extinguished early Monday morning.

    Preston Fire Chief Tom Casey said no one was in the house at the time. A dog in the home was not injured.

    The fire was reported around 9 a.m. Casey said the fire was under control within 10 minutes. A single, hand-line was used to extinguish the fire that was contained to a bedroom.

    Casey said there was no structural damage to the dwelling.

    A passerby reported flames coming out of the second floor. A second-floor window had visible char marks.

    Casey said the fire is under investigation.

    In addition Preston, Poquetanuck, Ledyard, Gales Ferry, Ledyard and the Mohegan Tribal FAST team also responded.
