Florence Griswold holds free community day

For the last dozen years, the Florence Griswold Museum has held a community day each spring that offers up art and activities — and, just as enticing, offers free admission to the vaunted site.

This Saturday’s festivities are wide-ranging and include Brian Miller’s magic shows (11 a.m. and 2:30 p.m.), hands-on projects (11 a.m.-4 p.m.), and a Looking-to-Learn Tour where families are led through the galleries and learn new ways to see things (1 p.m.).

And, of course, visitors can tuck into the Florence Griswold House or into the museum’s current exhibition, “Peter Halley: Big Paintings.”
