Celebrate poetry and song with the Mystic River Chorale

The idea of a community orchestra or singing group is quaint indeed. And when talent backs up the premise, everybody wins.

Consider the Mystic River Chorale, an outfit that, since 1984, has blessed our region with song. On Sunday, in their season finale at Mystic Congregational Church, the group presents “My Spirit is Uncaged — American Poetry & Song,” wherein choral arrangements serve as settings for great works by our finest bards. The Mystic River Chamber Singers add their skills to the mix, and Frank Martignetti conducts.

Featured will be poems by Frost, Whitman, Teasdale, Williams, cummings and more. The second public performance of Greg Bullen’s “The Orchard” is also on the program.
