Trio sustained minor injuries despite car hitting several trees off I-95

Groton — All three people involved in a Sunday night crash on Interstate 95 south came away with minor injuries after the car they were in hit several trees and landed on its roof, according to state police.

Police said Logan Constante, 22, of Bristol was traveling southbound in the center of three lanes near Exit 88 when the 2001 Lincoln LS he was driving left the roadway, struck multiple trees and ended up on its roof around 7:45 p.m.

Pictures of the crash show the bottom side of the crumpled-up car leaning up against a tree well off the roadway.

Constante is believed to have sustained minor injuries even though he was taken by Life Star helicopter to Hartford Hospital after the crash, police said.

A Hartford Hospital spokesman said Tuesday morning that Constante, whose condition was not available Monday because he was in surgery, is in fair condition.

Constante's passengers, Presley Carl Johnson, 22, of Bristol and Devon John Cummings, 23, of Bristol, were taken to Lawrence + Memorial Hospital by ambulance with suspected minor injuries.

Police did not say whether anyone was charged in the crash.

According to the state Department of Transportation, I-95 south was closed in the area for about two hours.
