Sheryl Crow brings country-pop mix to Foxwoods June 20

    Sheryl Crow: gone country.

The woman who used to churn out pop hit after pop hit moved to Nashville a decade ago and then decided to give country music a whirl.

The genre switch had a definite logic. The Missouri-raised singer-songwriter was always being told that if she were recording some of her early songs today, execs would sell them as country. She was encouraged, too, by Brad Paisley, a Crow pal who thought she'd make some great country music. She has recalled that he told her, "Let's just do what you do. Bring your influences with you. Just turn your vocal up and make your stories a little more concise and you're already there."

Crow released her first country CD, "Feels Like Home," in 2013, and it debuted at #7 on the Billboard charts.

Crow is mixing some "Feels Like Home" tunes with her pop hits during her current run of concerts, with the latest gig happening Saturday at Foxwoods' Grand Theater.
