Charlie Holland celebrates 90th birthday by performing Sunday with his All Star Jazz Band

Probably no style of music lends elegance to its older practitioners than jazz — with apologies to Merle Haggard, Willie Nelson and Neil (Not) Young. There's just something utterly cool and dignified about an Aging Jazzer. Take, for example, The Charlie Holland All Star Jazz Band. These guys have been entertaining regional audiences since Sinatra, Mingus, Duke and Satchmo still walked the earth — and their own chops/resumes are indeed world class. Exactly how long has The Charlie Holland All Star Jazz Band been bringing it? Well, let's just say that their Sunday gig at The Harbour House in Mystic, from 1-4 p.m., is particularly special because it's also Holland's 90th birthday.
